Private Dog Training Sessions
One-on-One Personalised Dog Training Consults
AKA: Let’s Sniff Out What’s Actually Going On.
What's The Deal?
I come to your home, where I can see what’s really going on. No judgment, just real-life problem-solving. I focus on figuring out the true reason behind your dogs behaviours and ensure that we address them correctly and NOT simply slap some obedience skills on top of it and hope it goes away.
We work through the who’s doing what, why it’s happening, and most importantly, how to work through it.
-
Great for busy social schedules - get it done during the week.
-
Perfect for the whole family to get on the same page taking into account lifestyles.
-
Tailored training that suits your dog and your life, alongside your home set up.
-
Reliable and achievable structured guidelines and routines.
You’ll get a custom behavioural report designed just for you and your pup (no cut and paste Chat GPT reports here), plus clear, practical advice and training skills that actually work.
When and Where?
-
In-home sessions in Sydney’s Inner West, East, City of Sydney & nearby suburbs (within a 10km radius from Newtown).
-
Available Monday to Thursday (appointments start between 10am–3pm).
-
Weeknights and weekends are booked up teaching group classes, so private bookings are weekdays only.
Not every dog (or human) thrives in a group setting—and that’s totally fine.
If chaos reigns at home or you just want a bit of tailored attention, a private session might be just what you and your dog need.
By working with you in the comforts of your home I provide skills that include your home set up and if we are working on outside skills we learn them in YOUR local neighbourhood where they are needed most.
Private Dog Training Pricing
There’s sometimes a waitlist (because, let’s face it, life with dogs can get wild), so book ahead if you can!
-
Initial consult – $550
(3 hours in person and +4 hours of note preparation & behaviour plan creating)
-
Follow-up sessions – $250
(1-1.5 hours in person + follow-up support & notes)
It is recommended to take into account a few follow up sessions to ensure that your training is going in the right direction and that you get the most out of your training plan. This could be weekly, monthly or bi-monthly depending on your preferences.
Do You Ask..."But Why Is My Dog Like This?!"
Short answer: your dog’s not being ‘vengeful’ or ‘naughty’—they just haven’t been set up to succeed yet.
Dogs don’t plot against you. (Even though it feels like it when they eat your couch)
They just need clear guidance, consistency, and a human who listens to what they’re trying to say.
Let's turn your "couch eater" into a superstar pup?
🐾 Book a private session with us and let’s give your dog (and your furniture) the fresh start they deserve!
Locations: We come to you! Must be within 10km of Newtown.
Walk'n'Train
Personalised Dog Training provided on a Walk
Let us train your dog whilst they also enjoy enriching, structured walks!
The Walk’n’Train Program is designed to address real-life behaviour challenges in outdoor environments - such as loose lead walking, reactivity, confidence-building when out and about, leaving items on the ground and building a reliable recall - all while giving your dog valuable mental and physical enrichment. An initial 90-Minute In-Home consult is conducted with Shelley the head trainer AND Jake the professional dog walker (and accredited trainer) before the walk and train service begins; we’ll meet you and your dog to better understand their needs and set clear goals.
For the walk and train sessions, you don’t need to be present! We’ll take care of the training walk and figure out what works for your dog to reach the goals you are aiming for. We'll keep you in the loop with updates and feedback so you can follow your dog’s progress and we transfer the handling skill over to you at the end of the package so you can continue to help your dog work through their challenges together.

Our Approach
At Paws And Think, we focus on your dog’s overall wellbeing, not just surface behaviours.
Many behavioural issues — like pulling, reactivity, or overstimulation — often stem from deeper causes like stress, anxiety, boredom, frustration, or inconsistent communication.
We start by identifying the “why” behind the behaviour so we can build a truly effective plan.
Should we suspect that your dogs behaviours may be linked to a medical issue, we’ll recommend seeing your vet (or a qualified Veterinary Behaviour Specialist if potentially linked with a mental health issue such as anxiety) before continuing. We may also refer you to a dog wear harness 'specialist' if we suspect that the harness or collar you are using to walk you dog is contributing to behavioural issues (Yup - it's a thing! Yes - we will consider EVERYTHING that may be involved).
Your dog’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing is always part of the plan and our main priority.
*Please Note: Once your dog's challenging behaviours have improved and the behavioural 'training' aspect when walking your dog is no longer needed, you can then take up the regular walking services directly with the trainer/walker who has been working closely with you and your dog! Yes - the price will decrease as it correlates to the services you need.
Our Walk And Train Service is perfect for busy humans or dogs who need a bit of extra help with their manners on the move.
Let’s take the first step together!
